Question asked from textbook #2: Suggest how the camerawork has contributed to the construction of meaning. Focus on the distance, movement, and angles used.

·      The camerawork contributes to the construction of meaning with the first reason being how the scene starts off with an arial shot that sets the setting of the show—New York city—and then it continues with close frame shots of what the characters are doing and what action and purpose is happening. The camera captures quick movements of a wide, tracking shot from of one character running, and then a quick, interrupted, close frame shot with slow movement of another character getting coffee. The purpose of these scenes is to show the characters fast paced morning before they go into a long and slow business day. The audience is encouraged to feel engaged as the characters are doing important things which leads the audience to wonder where the next scene is going. It also gives a feeling of excitement, and overall engagement from the audience.

Question asked from textbook #3:What technical decisions have been made regarding the composition of shots? Consider whether the framing is open or closed, the depth of field and how the rule of thirds has been used.  How does this aid to the construction of meaning?

·       The show starts with the technical decision of starting with a wide arial shot then goes to close frames shots, and wide frame tracking shots. It also includes an establishing shot that giving context for the scene by showing the relationship between the characters, the two shot is also included for that reason. The two point-of-view shots are also a key point because it shows how one character grabs attention that the other character does not and then the plan and a idea that might have to do with the rest of the episodes topic.

·        The main angles are from the side which shows a clear demonstration of what the characters are doing, a Steadicam to contrast the free hand technique used when one character was running, and then lastly a pan that brings in the two shots. For the shot duration and editing, the duration of shots and editing rhythm can influence the pacing, tension, and storytelling. The quick cuts create a sense of urgency or fast-paced action. The continuity planned by the director's during filming was creative because the shots were constantly moving for smooth progression, steady shot, and to show the action the camera is capturing from its quick, wide shot-to close shot movements.

Question asked from textbook #4: Turn your notes into a series of small paragraphs. Focus on two minutes of your chosen film or tv show. Can you suggest how aspects of the camerawork work together to create meaning for the audience?

·       The main difference is the contrast between the first two minutes opening the show and the rest of the show. It goes from fast, short shots in the beginning to slower, longer shots throughout the rest of the episode.

·      The aspects for the camerawork work together to create meaning for the audience by showing the quick movements of one of the characters including the world around them moving slower to show him and his personality of being efficient and hardworking and then quick shots of the other character standing still getting breakfast and then walking instead of running shows the personally differences of the characters and that is the purpose of this opening scene.

·      The overall main points I want to point out from the first two minutes of this opening scene was it was designed to grab the attention of the viewers and set the questions for the plot of the episode. It also mainly included energetic music, an Ariel shot in the first two shots, and then wide fast moving tracking shots, and slow-moving close frame shots to Interrupt and change up the drama of these first two minutes and fourteen shots.
